Facility management expertise
Larry Schoff
Lorenz (Larry) Schoff, has forty-two years background in facilities management, twenty-two of those years with K-12 schools. He served seven years as the Schools Sector Technical Analyst for the U.S. Department of Energy Program Rebuild America/EnergySmart Schools, providing technical assistance to schools to improve the learning and teaching environment increased energy efficiency of both existing and new schools facilities.  Mr. Schoff currently provides energy consulting services to K-12 schools and colleges and universities.  As a member of the USGBC Application Guide for Schools committee, he developed a LEED document for schools to better apply LEED NC 2.2 in the construction of new facilities.  He was the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Transportation for Montgomery County Public Schools  in Virginia from 1984 to 1997, where he was responsible for twenty public schools with 9,000 students. During his tenure he managed a $30 million capital improvements program for renovation and new construction of three schools, and developed a school construction plan valued at over $100 million, including comprehensive programs for energy management and recycling. Prior to his tenure there, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1984, specializing in energy utilization and facilities management. He retired as a Major. Larry has a BSCE from Oregon State and an MSCE from Arizona State; he is a registered professional engineer (PE).

Nick Stecky

Nick Stecky, C.E.M., LEED Accredited Professional, is president of his own facilities consulting firm, NJS Associates, LLC, headquartered in New Jersey. He brings to this program over thirty years experience in the design, construction and operations of a broad spectrum of facilities, including corporate R&D, corporate headquarters, federal nuclear labs, office parks and educational facilities. In addition, he has more than ten years experience in the energy consulting, auditing and ESCO industries. A recognized leader in the energy field, Mr. Stecky is Past President of the New Jersey Chapter of AEE, the New Jersey Chapter of ASHRAE.and serves on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council. He has authored a number of articles and is a frequent guest speaker on energy and green buildings. He is one of the instructors for the AEE's CEM Program and has run numerous seminars and workshops on energy and green buildings. Mr. Stecky holds a bachelors degree in engineering and a masters degree in systems.

Elizabeth Crane is a writer and editor with more than a decade of experience working for magazines, newspapers, and websites.  She is a contributing editor at District Administration magazine, writes for parenting magazines, and pens a tech column for a writers' organization newsletter.  She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania.
