Lawton, Oklahoma, Schools Invest $2.2 Million in Energy Efficiency

The Lawton Public Schools in Lawton, Okla., are implementing $2.2 million in facility enhancements designed to improve operations, comfort and efficiency at five campuses totaling nearly 900,000 square feet. Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, will complete the work as a performance contract with the district. Schneider Electric guarantees that the Lawton Public Schools will reduce its utility costs by $254,854 annually when the project is completed in the summer of 2010.

Replace rusty metal ceiling vents, air diffusers and return grills with plastic vents and diffusers.
Restaurants, bakeries, school cafeterias, food prep areas,dishwashing rooms, chemical labs, swimming pool areas, and outside paking garages and structures will all see their metal vents and diffusers rust due to heat, humidity and chemical exposure. Never rust plastic vents are easy to install.

District Combines Building Upgrades with Hands-On Learning Experience, Earns Award for Energy Efficiency

When administrators at Tonganoxie Unified School District (USD) 464 embarked on a $2.1 million energy and infrastructure improvement effort last year, they took the project into the classroom, coupling upgrades to buildings with an energy efficiency curriculum. The recently completed infrastructure upgrades are expected to save $217,000 a year in operations, maintenance and utilities costs.
